Hotel de France, (194 rooms) description: The Hotel de France was built on the Schottenring part of Vienna's Ringstrasse in 1872 by the architects Franz Fröhlich and Anton Ölzelt. One year later, in 1873, a world exhibition took place in Vienna. To radiate an international ambience, the new hotel was named "de France", which at that time was considered to be chic and elegant.
In October 1876 Ölzelt attended a concert by Anton Bruckner in Klosterneuburg Monastery and was so impressed by his music that he offered him an apartment in the Hotel de France. Bruckner gratefully accepted the offer and stayed at the hotel until the summer of 1895. During this time he composed many of his most famous works.
The exclusive Hotel de France offers state-of-the-art comfort and Viennese charm right in the centre of Vienna, directly at the famous Ringstrasse.
Many sights, such as St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hofburg Imperial Palace, can be easily reached on foot in a few minutes. Located on one of the world’s most beautiful boulevards, the hotel is perfectly connected to the public transportation network. The Schottentor underground station (line U2) is only 50 metres away.
For your convenience the minibars, which will be filled up daily, and broadband Internet access in all rooms are available free of charge. The Hotel de France also offers a fitness room that can be used by all guests free of charge, 24 hours a day.
Enjoy traditional Viennese and French cuisine in the trendily furnished Restaurant No. 3. During the summer months there is also a sidewalk café. A rich breakfast buffet is served on the upper floor of the restaurant. Japanese specialities are offered in the Daihachi Sushi Bar. The stylish Atrium Bar is an elegant meeting point for any time of day. You will be accompanied through the evening by a pianist’s atmospheric music.
